Ukrainian drones strike Ryazan oil refinery, sparking fire

Ukrainian drones attacked the Ryazan oil refinery overnight on September 6, causing a fire at one of Russia's largest oil processing facilities. The plant, part of Rosneft, was hit by FP-1 drones, according to Ukrainian sources. Governor Pavel Malkov reported that drone debris damaged a residential building in Ryazan and the Sapozhkovsky district, with no preliminary casualties. Rostov-on-Don was also attacked, where three people were injured and seven passenger trains were delayed. The Ryazan refinery has an annual capacity of about 17 million tons of oil, producing gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other products. This was not the first attack, as the plant was previously struck in May and late July 2026.
