Germany plans anti-sabotage shield after airport drone attack

Germany is planning a broad security package to counter Russian drone attacks, cyber intrusions and sabotage, following a failed drone attack at an airport last month. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said Russia's hybrid attacks have become daily reality and will increase. The plan, reported by Bild am Sonntag, includes expanding police mobile drone defence capabilities with rapidly deployable counter-drone units in cities. Critical infrastructure operators would gain legal authority to actively fend off drones, and a national "cyberdome" sensor network would detect hacking attempts. The government also intends to expand AI-supported technologies, biometric facial recognition and video surveillance at railway stations to identify suspected saboteurs. Russia has denied involvement in the airport attack, calling such allegations anti-Russian action.
