Portugal and Ukraine Discuss Joint Weapons Production

Portuguese President Antonio Jose Seguro met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Madrid to discuss continued support for Ukraine, including potential joint weapons production. Seguro assured Ukraine of Portugal's ongoing political, military, and financial backing. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit at Ukraine's request. Zelensky highlighted discussions on supporting Ukraine's energy system and protecting lives, expressing hope for new steps in this support. Portugal confirmed it will maintain its consistent aid. Separately, Prime Minister Luis Montenegro announced Portugal will double its annual contribution to the Ibero-American General Secretariat. He also expressed Portugal's availability to host the 32nd Ibero-American Summit in 2030.
