Qatar's diplomatic efforts to broker a breakthrough between the US and Iran have failed to produce significant results, as neither side is willing to make concessions, raising fears of renewed military conflict, according to Axios. Citing three sources familiar with the talks, the outlet reported that Qatari mediator Ali al-Tawadi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in New York and proposed a compromise plan addressing Tehran's demand to lift the US blockade and Washington's demand for nuclear concessions. Al-Tawadi also met with US envoy Jared Kushner. The stalemate has strengthened beliefs on both sides that renewed hostilities are more likely, with US officials suggesting major combat operations could be ordered after midterm elections.
