Iran Awaits U.S. Response to Qatari-Brokered Proposals on Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is awaiting a U.S. response to proposals submitted through Qatari mediators to end military tensions between the two nations. He stated Iran has made no concessions on its nuclear program. Araghchi told reporters in New York on Monday that Qatar will deliver the ideas to the United States, with a response hoped for by Tuesday. He denied reports of nuclear concessions, saying discussions focus solely on the Strait of Hormuz, and that reopening it depends on U.S. meeting Iran's conditions. The proposal follows a rejected seven-day ceasefire plan last Friday. The U.S. and Israel launched a war on Iran in February, and negotiations have stalled over disagreements on navigation in the strategic strait, a key global energy and goods route.
