Iran warns of renewed West Asia attacks if U.S. rejects ceasefire plan

Iran has warned it will resume attacks on West Asian countries if the U.S. rejects its seven-day ceasefire plan aimed at ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The threat was issued by Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, who leads Iran's mediation team, after President Donald Trump dismissed the proposals last week. Iran says it has not received an official U.S. response and has resubmitted the plan, warning that no infrastructure in the region will be safe if its security is not ensured. Qalibaf stated that if Iran cannot sell oil, no one else will. Iran's foreign minister said mediators from Qatar are ready to resubmit the proposal, and reports suggest the U.S. is unwilling to negotiate unless Iran addresses its nuclear program. Meanwhile, Iran's currency, the rial, has hit a record low of 2.5 million per U.S. dollar.
