Iran receives US response to its proposal for ending Middle East war

Iran announced Wednesday it received the official US response to its proposal to end the Middle East war, state media reported, days after President Donald Trump publicly rejected the plan. Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the American reply to President Masoud Pezeshkian at a cabinet meeting, without disclosing its contents. The development follows the resumption of indirect US-Iran talks last week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, after seven months of conflict. Iran's proposal includes seven conditions, such as a Middle East ceasefire, unfreezing Iranian assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending the US naval blockade. Tehran has continued striking small vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington has imposed new sanctions on Iranian airlines.
