Iran receives US response to its proposal to end the war

Iranian officials confirmed Wednesday they received an official U.S. response to Tehran's proposal to end the seven-month war, though they did not disclose its contents or whether it was a rejection. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the response to President Masoud Pezeshkian at a Cabinet meeting, following his return from U.N. talks in New York where indirect discussions with U.S. officials occurred. Pezeshkian said any agreement must be based on a "win-win strategy." President Donald Trump had publicly rejected Iran's offer days earlier, which included conditions like reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for sanctions relief. Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury imposed new sanctions Tuesday targeting Iran's military supply chain, and Iran's currency hit a record low of 2.5 million rials to the dollar.
