Iran receives US response to its latest proposal to end the war

Iran has received an official U.S. response to its latest proposal to end the seven-month war, though officials did not disclose its contents, days after President Donald Trump publicly rejected the offer. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the response to President Masoud Pezeshkian at a Cabinet meeting, following indirect talks with U.S. officials in New York. Tehran's proposal included reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting port blockades, releasing frozen assets, and waiving oil sanctions. The U.S. Treasury imposed new sanctions Tuesday on ten individuals and entities in Iran, Hong Kong, and Pakistan as part of "Operation Economic Outcast." Iran's currency hit a record low of 2.5 million rials per dollar, and two men were executed Wednesday for roles in January protests.
