Indirect talks mediated by Qatar were reportedly set to resume. The conflict began in late February with US-Israeli strikes on Tehran, centering on control of the Strait of Hormuz, which previously carried a fifth of global oil and gas. Iran has stated no new talks are planned, and the issue is politically sensitive ahead of November midterm elections.
