Iran expects US response on Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday

Iran expects an official US response by Tuesday regarding the de-escalation of the crisis and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. New indirect contacts between Iran and the US took place in New York via Qatari mediators. Araghchi stated that Tehran has presented specific conditions for reopening the strategic waterway, which have been communicated to Washington and the international community. Qatari mediators submitted new proposals to bridge differences between the two sides, and these are now being conveyed to the US capital. The Iranian minister noted that communication through Qatari and Pakistani mediators has always existed, but the process has now taken on a more serious character. His presence at the UN General Assembly last week aimed to present Tehran's position on regional conflicts and security in the Strait of Hormuz.
