Iran Receives US Response to Seven-Day Trust-Building Plan via Qatar

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi received US feedback on a seven-day trust-building plan via Qatari mediators in Doha on Tuesday, with sequencing of steps as the main sticking point, an official briefed on the talks told Reuters. Araqchi is expected to discuss the US response in Tehran on Wednesday. Iran presented the proposal last week, under which the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened if conditions were met, though US President Donald Trump initially rejected it, prompting further Qatari mediation. The plan aims to return both sides to an enhanced version of a June memorandum of understanding, including steps on Iran's nuclear programme. Qatar has been shuttling messages to end the conflict and reopen the strait.
