Trump may back Iran strike if Republicans lose midterms, Axios reports

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Axios reports that President Donald Trump may be more willing to approve a large-scale military operation against Iran if Republicans lose the midterm elections, according to a US official. The official said Trump could resort to decisive action if he feels humiliated or loses influence, and advised Iran that now is the best time to strike a deal. The Pentagon is already preparing by deploying additional air defenses and ammunition to the Middle East. The Wall Street Journal previously reported warnings of a short but intense campaign against Iran after the November 3 elections. Iran threatens to attack US targets in response, while Democratic Senator Chris Murphy called the plans insane and warned of devastating escalation.
