Iran warns new war could last longer after Trump threats
Iran warned on Sunday that a new war could last longer than the previous one, responding to US President Donald Trump's Saturday threat of potential new attacks on military targets. Trump said he would resolve the issue "in ten minutes." Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia stated Trump is "not in a position to dictate either the timing or the conditions" for ending the conflict. The threats target Mount Kolang, suspected of housing an underground nuclear complex near Natanz, which Iran denies, insisting its nuclear program is for civilian purposes. Tensions follow a February 28 US offensive that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and thousands of civilians. A ceasefire was reached in April, but attacks resumed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also cited a "unique historical opportunity" to eliminate Iran's threat, while new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei threatened "immediate, powerful response without geographic limits." Qatar-mediated negotiations continue.
