Iran's Supreme Leader Warns US Against New Attacks
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned the United States on Saturday against launching new attacks, amid rising speculation of a possible resumption of war in the Middle East. Khamenei ordered senior military commanders to respond to any attack by the US or Israel with an "immediate, forceful, and geographically unrestricted" response, according to a statement on his website. Iranian army spokesman Mohamad Akraminia warned that new US attacks would spread the war to a much wider area. The warning coincides with diplomatic efforts to prevent renewed fighting, including Qatari mediators in Tehran and a reported letter from US Vice President JD Vance to Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei. Two missing fishermen were found after an attack on their boat in the Strait of Hormuz.
