Iran and Qatar agree to reopen Strait of Hormuz within two days
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced agreement with mediating countries to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if conditions are met, amid reported US consideration of further strikes. Araghchi confirmed receiving a letter from US Vice President Vance regarding resuming negotiations and said discussions occurred at senior official levels. He called Washington's attempt to open dialogue a positive step, though no meeting with US officials is currently scheduled. Qatar proposed reopening the strait within five days, which was shortened to two days through negotiations. Iran had previously demanded sanctions relief, US troop withdrawal from the region, and release of frozen assets. Araghchi stated reopening the strait would open paths for resolving outstanding issues with America.
