US strikes Iran's Qeshm Island, report says

aawsat.com (Arabic) —

The United States struck Iran's Qeshm Island, according to a Wall Street Journal report on Monday citing US officials, following multiple explosions reported in the area by Iranian state media. The strike is part of a series of limited US attacks over recent weeks, deliberately narrowed in scope to avoid signaling a resumption of a major military campaign against Iran, the Journal reported. US Central Command has not yet responded to a Reuters request for comment. Earlier Monday, President Donald Trump cast doubt on resuming strikes, saying a deal with Tehran is possible and answering "no" when asked if he planned to hit Iran after Tuesday's midterm elections. Washington and Tehran have been at war since February 28.
