Iran confirms intensive indirect talks with US via mediators
Iran announced it is conducting intensive indirect negotiations with the United States through mediators, aiming to end the Middle East war and avoid a new escalation, with diplomatic efforts pushing oil prices down on Monday. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said consultations are "very intensive" given the sensitive situation, praising Qatar and Islamabad's mediating role. President Masoud Pezeshkian stated the Supreme Leader granted the government negotiating authority. Iran also conditionally offered to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz within two days instead of seven. Tehran demands a ceasefire on all fronts, release of frozen assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending the US naval blockade. Meanwhile, Washington and Israel have threatened new strikes, with Iran warning of a "strong, immediate, and comprehensive" response to any aggression.
