US strikes Iranian island of Qeshm, Wall Street Journal reports
The United States attacked the Iranian island of Qeshm, according to The Wall Street Journal on Monday, citing American officials. The strike is the latest in a series of limited, secretive offensives by Washington in recent weeks. The attack followed explosions on the island in the Strait of Hormuz, reported by Iran's state news agency IRNA. The Journal said the strikes were deliberately kept small-scale and secret to avoid signaling a return to a major military campaign against Iran. The U.S. and Iran have been at war since February 28. Earlier Monday, President Donald Trump expressed doubt about resuming attacks and suggested a deal with Tehran was possible, while Iran warned that a new war could last longer than the previous one.
