US-Iran Talks Resume as Trump Weighs Post-Election Strikes
US-Iran talks are set to resume today, Monday, after President Donald Trump rejected Tehran's peace proposal. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated his country is prepared for war, even an "apocalyptic" one, but remains open to diplomacy. Trump told Axios he expects negotiations to restart within a week, saying Iran "overestimated their hand" with the rejected plan. Indirect talks may begin today through Qatari mediation, following UN General Assembly discussions involving US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Trump claimed over 20 million barrels of hydrocarbons passed through the Strait of Hormuz this weekend, a record since the war began. The Wall Street Journal reported Trump is considering resuming bombings after the November 3 midterm elections.
