Iran denies resuming negotiations with United States

Iran's official news agency IRNA denied Monday that negotiations are scheduled with the United States, contradicting President Donald Trump's suggestion that talks could resume soon. The denial follows Trump's rejection of an Iranian plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. On Sunday, Trump told Axios he expected talks with Iran to resume shortly, a day after rejecting Tehran's proposal. However, an Iranian source stated the delegation at the UN General Assembly has no intention to negotiate, noting Tehran's conditions were communicated via a Qatari mediator last Tuesday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran still seeks a diplomatic solution but awaits an official US response through mediators. Iran's army chief warned the war is in a "critical phase," insisting Iran won't accept restrictions on its trade while others use regional routes.
