Iran rules out new US talks in New York

interfax.ru (Russian) —

Iran's delegation does not plan to hold a new round of negotiations with the United States in New York, according to the IRNA news agency, citing an informed source. The foreign minister will return home Tuesday after scheduled events. The source said Tehran's position was conveyed to the American side last Tuesday through a Qatari mediator, and Iran awaits a US response. This follows President Donald Trump's statement that talks could occur this week, though he rejected Iran's de-escalation plan on Saturday. Trump said he expects more negotiations and is always considering the possibility of resuming strikes on Iran. Axios reported Middle Eastern sources indicate a new round of indirect talks could happen Monday.
