Iran holds firm on Hormuz conditions after U.S. rejects proposal

Iran stood firm Sunday on its seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz after U.S. President Donald Trump rejected the proposal, leaving the West Asia conflict in a stalemate. The waterway remains central to the dispute between Washington and Tehran. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi demanded a cessation of all hostilities in West Asia, including Lebanon and Yemen, plus a return to the collapsed ceasefire deal that required releasing frozen assets, lifting oil sanctions, and ending the U.S. naval blockade. Trump dismissed the truce, while his UN ambassador called the demands cynical. Iran's Revolutionary Guards also seized an American submarine drone in the strait, claiming it was used for espionage. Tehran said it awaits mediator responses, while Saudi Arabia criticized the international community for failing to keep vital waterways open.
