Iran says ready for diplomacy or war after US rejects peace offer

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated the country is "prepared for diplomacy and for war" after the United States rejected an Iranian peace proposal. In an NBC interview, Araghchi said Iran remains firm against any aggression, even in an "apocalyptic war," citing a lack of trust in Washington as the main obstacle to negotiations. Last week, Iran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and resuming nuclear talks in exchange for the US lifting its naval blockade, oil sanctions, and restoring a ceasefire. President Donald Trump rejected the proposal on Saturday. The war between the US, Israel, and Iran is in its eighth month, with intensified sanctions and Iranian attacks on tankers. Araghchi insisted Tehran wants to end the "war of aggression" but sees no reason to re-engage with this administration after Washington attacked Iranian territory during diplomatic contacts. Supreme Leader survived a second US attack in February.
