Iranian Guards dispute US control of Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed Tuesday that the U.S. does not fully control the Strait of Hormuz, dismissing President Donald Trump's assertions of dominance over the key oil shipping route amid the ongoing Operation Epic Fury campaign. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi called Trump a "big liar" and argued that occasional U.S. vessel passages do not mean the strait is open, while Trump insisted the U.S. is "winning tremendously" with total control. Oil exports through the strait in September were near 10 million barrels per day, about half the pre-war volume. The remarks come as regional tensions remain high, including a ship fire from a suspected projectile in the strait, threats against infrastructure from Iranian officials, and ongoing Houthi attacks in Yemen affecting Red Sea shipping corridors.
