Iran rules out US talks as Hormuz conditions remain unmet

The official IRNA news agency, citing an unnamed source, said Iran's positions were conveyed clearly to the US via a Qatari mediator, with the delegation returning to Tehran Tuesday. Trump told Axios on Sunday he expected talks soon, a day after rejecting Tehran's proposal to reopen the strategic waterway, which carried roughly 20 percent of global oil and gas before the conflict. The dispute stems from US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February, after which Tehran choked the strait and Washington blockaded Iranian ports. Iran demands a seven-day Middle East ceasefire, unfrozen assets, lifted oil sanctions, and an end to the naval blockade, though US strikes have paused since September 1.
