Iran warns US of 'apocalyptic war' risk over Strait of Hormuz

Iran's foreign minister warned the US of an "apocalyptic war" risk, accusing Washington of blocking a peace proposal regarding the Strait of Hormuz, oil sanctions, and nuclear talks in an eight-month conflict with the US and Israel. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is ready for "diplomacy and war" after the US rejected Tehran's peace offer. He told NBC that distrust of Washington is the main obstacle to negotiations, following US attacks on Iranian territory during diplomatic efforts. At last week's UN General Assembly, Iran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming nuclear talks within seven days if the US lifted naval blockade and oil sanctions. President Trump refused Saturday, while Araghchi said Tehran seeks to end the "war of aggression" but sees no diplomatic path with the current US administration.
