Trump Vows Quick Victory in Iran Conflict, Rejects Tehran's Peace Offer

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is confident the country will win its conflict with Iran "very soon," and did not rule out new military strikes before the U.S. midterm elections. In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated, "I think we will win this war very soon, and once we win it, oil prices will fall — significantly, to pre-war levels." When asked directly about possible strikes before the midterms, he said, "I don't want to say that. It's possible, but I just don't want to say that." He also asserted Iran does not have nuclear weapons. Iran had proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming nuclear talks within a week if the U.S. lifted its naval blockade, eased oil sanctions, and restored a regional ceasefire. Trump confirmed he rejected this latest peace offer, which was conveyed during indirect negotiations this week in New York.
