Teacher doused with gasoline in La Ciotat will return to talk with students
Since the start of high school blockades in France, 78 education staff have been injured, according to Minister Édouard Geffray. Among them, Thierry Laurent, a teacher at La Ciotat, was doused with gasoline and struck while preventing a fire. Despite the assault, Laurent says he will continue dialogue with mobilized students, stating the Republic must not retreat before violence. A 16-year-old student was arrested and placed in custody, and the teacher filed a complaint. In Évry-Courcouronnes, several were injured at a high school, and a principal suspended classes after online threats. In Laval, another principal promotes dialogue, while the main parents' federation calls for a demonstration Tuesday.
