Between 400 and 500 schools in France may suspend classes on Monday, October 5, due to student protests, according to Education Minister Édouard Geffray. The closures follow similar disruptions on Friday, October 2. Classes are halted when safety cannot be guaranteed or staff face attacks, with 78 education workers reported injured during the protests. Schools will gradually reopen based on security conditions. The protests began September 17 in the Île-de-France region and spread nationwide, with students demanding more funding, staff, and better conditions. Earlier unrest led to 625 arrests and 83 injured police officers in one day.
