Family of blinded teen in Tours files complaint over school blockade injury
The family of a 16-year-old student, Maël, who lost the use of his right eye during a school blockade in Tours, has filed a complaint for violence by a person holding public authority. The prosecutor confirmed the legal action on Sunday. The prosecutor stated that medical examinations found the teenager's eye injuries were "compatible" with the impact of a defense bullet (LBD). The incident occurred Wednesday during a blockade, and a video of the injured youth was widely shared on social media. The teenager and his mother have been heard by the police inspectorate (IGPN), which continues its investigation. Authorities said officers intervened with firefighters to extinguish fires while being targeted by projectiles.
