French Teen Arrested for Spraying Fire at Woman During Student Riots

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in France after video showed him using a makeshift flame-thrower to spray fire at a woman’s face during student riots, leaving her with first-degree burns. The incident occurred at a bus stop, where the masked teen used an aerosol can and lighter. The protests began over school conditions like poor facilities and staff shortages, but Education Minister Edourd Geffray says ultra-left groups have hijacked the movement. Over 5,000 people, mostly minors, have been arrested since protests began. At least 400 of France’s 3,700 high schools will be fully or partially closed Monday in response to the escalating violence, which has included arson and attacks on school staff.
