Jura students block school over long days, heavy schedules, and Parcoursup pressure
Around 400 students blocked the Lycée Jean-Michel in Lons-le-Saunier, Jura, on Monday, October 5, to protest school conditions, marking the school's first day of action in a broader student movement. Students are demanding an end to overly long school days, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and criticizing heavy class schedules, insufficient lunch breaks, and pressure related to the Parcoursup university admissions platform. The protest was organized over several days and monitored by police. Other schools in the Jura region had already joined the movement days earlier, with this action representing a coordinated effort to voice student concerns about their daily academic workload and future prospects.
