Family of teen blinded in Tours school blockade files complaint
The family of a 16-year-old boy, Maël, who lost the use of his right eye during a school blockade in Tours, has filed a complaint for violence by a person holding public authority. The prosecutor confirmed the legal action on Sunday. The prosecutor stated that medical examinations found his injuries "compatible" with the impact of a defense bullet like a flash-ball (LBD). The teenager and his mother have been heard by the police inspectorate (IGPN), which is continuing its investigation. The incident occurred Wednesday when police intervened with firefighters to extinguish fires and were targeted by projectiles. The boy was hospitalized, and a video of him with a bloody head circulated widely on social media.
