The family of a 16-year-old student who lost sight in one eye after incidents during a school blockade in Tours has filed a complaint for "violence by a person holding public authority," the prosecutor's office announced Sunday, October 4. Prosecutor Catherine Sorita-Minard confirmed the complaint, filed after medical exams showed the eye injuries were "compatible with the impact of a defense bullet of the LBD type." The teenager, named Maël, was hospitalized following the incident. The student and his mother have been heard by the police oversight body IGPN as the investigation continues. The prefecture said officers intervened with firefighters to extinguish fires while being targeted by projectiles.
