North Korea denies US claims of Binance hack, tracks $3.24B across 12,000 crypto wallets
North Korea has denied US allegations that its hackers were behind the $6.3 billion Binance attack, calling the claims a serious political provocation. Blockchain analysts are tracking the stolen funds across thousands of wallets. Kim Yo Jong, sister of leader Kim Jong Un, condemned the FBI's accusation linking the TraderTraitor hacker group to North Korea, accusing Washington of portraying Pyongyang as a cybercrime state. Elliptic found hackers used about 12,000 wallets across 11 blockchains in over 40,000 transactions within four days. Elliptic reported roughly $2.85 billion of the stolen assets has been frozen or recovered, while $3.24 billion remains in linked wallets. Binance said it has compensated about 95% of affected assets and is gradually resuming withdrawal services.
