North Korea Denies Role in $6B Binance Hack, Calls Claims Provocation
North Korea has rejected US accusations that it was behind the theft of over six billion dollars in cryptocurrency from Binance, calling the claims "absurd rhetoric" and a "serious political provocation." Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of leader Kim Jong Un, accused Washington of hostility and said North Korea would reconsider its stance, according to state media KCNA. The FBI had blamed the state-backed hacking unit TraderTraitor for the attack on the world's largest crypto exchange. North Korea regularly denies involvement in cybercrime, though experts say its hackers are among the most active crypto thieves, with stolen funds allegedly financing weapons programs. Meanwhile, Binance customers have withdrawn 3.64 billion dollars since withdrawals resumed, though the company disputed higher figures from analytics platform DefiLlama.
