Jaishankar hits back at Pakistani journalist over terrorism question at UN

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar rebuffed a Pakistani journalist's question on terrorism during a UN press briefing in New York on Friday, stating, "A terrorist country is asking me that question." The exchange occurred at an event with Liberia's foreign minister. The briefing was initially announced as remarks-only, but the Pakistani reporter intervened near its end. Jaishankar is leading India's delegation to the 81st UN General Assembly session and is scheduled to address the High-Level Session on Saturday. India has long urged Pakistan to take credible action against cross-border terrorism, citing the 2025 Pahalgam attack and UN listings of terror groups. Pakistan has been placed on the FATF Grey List three times, most recently from 2018 to 2022.
