India Hits Back at Pakistan at UN, Calls It 'Serial Practitioner of Terrorism'

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar criticized Pakistan at the UN General Assembly, calling it a "serial practitioner of terrorism" and rejecting efforts to "normalise terrorism." This followed Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif's remarks on Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty. Jaishankar, without naming Sharif, asserted that states supporting cross-border terrorism must be held accountable and stressed there should be "no dilution" in the global zero-tolerance approach. He also affirmed India's right to self-defense against terrorism. The exchange occurred a day after Sharif labeled India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty an "act of war" and raised the Kashmir issue. Jaishankar warned that friendship cannot coexist with terrorism.
