Jaishankar at UN calls for peace, reforms, and action on terrorism

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the UN General Assembly, calling for peace, defending India's right to counter terrorism, and urging greater representation for developing countries in global decision-making. Jaishankar warned against an unnamed "serial practitioner of terrorism," asserting India's right to self-defense, and condemned state-sponsored cross-border terrorism. He also urged de-escalation in the Gulf and an end to hostilities in Ukraine, highlighting impacts on energy, food security, and seafarers. He detailed the Global South's "4F crisis" of food, fuel, fertiliser, and finance, and advocated for AI development freedom and reformed multilateral institutions. India highlighted its development projects and climate initiatives, while other leaders echoed concerns about conflicts and technology inequality.
