India at UN: Durable peace needs two-state solution for Israel-Palestine

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India's support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict during his address to the UN General Assembly on Saturday, stating that durable peace in West Asia requires separate Israeli and Palestinian states. Jaishankar also highlighted India's humanitarian contributions to Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict, noting ongoing relief efforts. India has previously backed a "sovereign, independent and viable State of Palestine" and supported Palestine's UN membership last year while condemning the October 7, 2023 terror attacks on Israel. India has provided approximately 70 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Palestinians since the conflict began, including medicines and medical supplies, and has completed projects worth $26 million in Palestine over the last five years. Jaishankar also called for an end to ongoing wars and criticized Pakistan's prime minister for misrepresenting facts regarding Kashmir.
