India rebukes Pakistan at UN over terrorism, Kashmir remarks

India has strongly rebuked Pakistan at the UN General Assembly, warning that continued support for cross-border terrorism will have consequences. The response came after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's address on Friday. Indian diplomat Petal Gahlot called Sharif's remarks bizarre and highlighted Pakistan's hypocrisy on terrorism, noting that 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden lived near Pakistan's army academy. She stated that Pakistan is "a regime of the army, for the army and by the army," and warned that terrorists will have nowhere to hide. Sharif had raised the Kashmir issue and the Indus Waters Treaty in his speech. India has put the treaty in abeyance until Pakistan ends its support for terrorism.
