economia.uol.com.br (Portuguese) —

Itaipu Binacional's Paraguayan administration has initiated legal action with Paraguay's Public Ministry to recover approximately US$182 million deposited in Ueno Bank, as announced on Saturday. The funds, held as of November 3, include US$163.8 million in dollars and 115.2 billion guaranis (about US$18 million), representing 7.6% of over US$2.4 billion received from Brazil between 2024 and 2026. Itaipu began operating with the bank in January 2025. The Brazilian administration clarified no Brazilian-managed funds are in Ueno Bank, and operations continue normally. Itaipu stated it maintains resources only in legally authorized institutions with high credit ratings, generating over US$450 million in returns during the period.
