AfD seeks coalition partners after Saxony-Anhalt election win

The AfD in Saxony-Anhalt is inviting all parties represented in the state parliament to exploratory talks, following its victory in the state election. BSW lead candidate Claudia Wittig has already rejected a coalition with the AfD in advance. AfD parliamentary manager Tobias Rausch announced on Monday that invitation letters would be sent to all parties on Tuesday, stating the party is willing to compromise as it lacks an absolute majority. He named the CDU and BSW as potential partners, though both have ruled out a coalition with the party, which is classified as right-wing extremist by state authorities. The AfD won the election on Sunday with 43.8 percent of the vote but fell short of a majority. Lead candidate Ulrich Siegmund is courting individual lawmakers and factions to secure a "stable majority," leaving the possibility of an AfD minority government open.
