AfD Wins Saxony-Anhalt State Election with Far-Right Agenda

The far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) won a landslide victory in the state election in Saxony-Anhalt, doubling its vote share compared to five years ago. Party leader Siegmund called it a historic night, vowing to reclaim the homeland. The AfD's campaign slogan "Think German" drew criticism for echoing Nazi rhetoric, as Adolf Hitler used similar language about youth education. The party also advocates patriotic education and criticizes Germany's post-war historical guilt, while proposing to lift sanctions on Russia. Voter turnout reached 77.8%, significantly higher than the previous election. However, the AfD fell short of an absolute majority, and a coalition with a new left-wing party is considered unlikely.
