AfD could lead minority government in Saxony-Anhalt after regional elections

Following regional elections, the party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) may lead a minority government in Saxony-Anhalt. The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) confirmed it will not vote against the AfD's candidate for state premier. The AfD won nearly 44% of votes but lacks an absolute majority. Other parties refuse to cooperate with it. BSW, which won 5.3%, says it will abstain in the third round of voting, potentially allowing the AfD's Ulrich Siegmund to become premier.
