Siri Gets a Standalone App in iOS 27 With Five New AI Features
Apple will release iOS 27 on Monday, Sept. 14, introducing a standalone Siri app with five major AI features, including conversation history, screen context, and cross-app workflows, though only newer iPhone models will support them. The new Siri app replaces the temporary overlay with a permanent workspace, allowing users to revisit past chats, attach files, and type prompts. Screen Context lets Siri read live on-screen content, while camera viewfinder mode provides visual analysis. Agentic workflows enable multi-step commands like finding a memo and emailing it. Personal Context uses Private Cloud Compute for secure data access, with on-device processing for iPhone 18 Pro and 17 Pro models, and cloud-assisted support for iPhone 15 Pro and 16 series. Standard iPhone 15 and older devices will receive iOS 27 but lack new Siri features.
