Apple announced Wednesday that its new Apple Watch models include four opt-in "audio intelligence" features powered by microphones, such as sound recognition, conversation recaps, and a 15-second "Live Rewind" transcription tool, all designed with privacy protections. Apple emphasizes that these features process data locally on devices where possible, using its new S11 chips with a "Secure Exclave" buffer to isolate audio, and raw recordings are never stored or accessible to users, apps, or Apple. Cloud-bound data is pre-processed and encrypted, with summaries stripped of sensitive details like financial data or precise locations.
