Apple's AirPods 5 bring noise cancellation to cheaper earphones

Apple has unveiled the AirPods 5, bringing active noise cancellation to its cheapest wireless earphones for the first time, along with improved sound quality and optional touch-based volume controls. The base model costs $129, avoiding price increases seen on other Apple products, while a $149 version adds a wireless charging case and stem-sliding volume control. Pre-orders are open now, with availability starting Friday, September 18. Apple claims the new earphones remove up to 50 percent more noise than the previous AirPods 4, which required a paid upgrade for noise cancellation.
