Apple Watch Series 12 shrinks screens but grows cases

Apple Watch Series 12 features a smaller display and a wider case than its predecessors, according to Apple's tech specs. The 46mm model's display area dropped 2% to 1,196 sq mm, while the 42mm size fell 1.9% to 970 sq mm, despite unchanged pixel resolutions. The case grew roughly 2.6% for the 46mm size and 2.8% for the 42mm, with depth unchanged at 9.7mm. This combination creates larger borders around the display, and Apple's design tweaks to recede the casing may make these bezels appear even more prominent. This pattern mirrors the Series 10's 2024 shift from Series 9, where visible aluminum edges shrank but total bezels grew. The Series 12 starts at $399 and launches September 18, sharing the same approximate case design as Series 10 and 11.
